South Beach Diet Phase Two After two weeks, Phase II begins. Phase II reintroduces foods back into the diet. On average, one to two pounds a week will be lost during Phase II, which reintroduces healthy carbohydrates, such as whole-grain pasta, whole-grain bread, fruit and milk. In the beginning, only one carbohydrate can be eaten daily, such as a bowl of cereal in the morning or a piece of fruit in the afternoon.
The goal of Phase II is to continue losing weight while
gradually eating more carbohydrates. Thus, the dieter needs to
establish how many carbohydrates he or she can consume safely in day.
This is accomplished by gradually increasing the amount of carbohydrates
consumed each day until weight loss stalls. This amount will vary
depending on an individual’s metabolism and activity level. |
